South Water Caye, located within Belize’s largest marine protected area, is a stunning island known for its crystal-clear waters, incredible beaches, and excellent snorkeling opportunities. The island is a haven for nature lovers and those seeking a serene escape amidst the beauty of the Caribbean Sea.

Anchoring at South Water Caye

Anchoring on the west side of South Water Caye offers a picturesque setting with depths usually around 10 feet. The seabed is mostly grass, so it’s important to find sandy patches for better holding. The anchorage is ideal in east winds but can become a bit rolly in other conditions. It's crucial to secure your vessel properly as mooring balls have been known to fail in heavy winds.
