Matt's Take
About the Fountaine Pajot Isla 40
The Fountaine Pajot Isla 40 is a newer and smaller model in FP's range, designed as a replacement for the popular Lucia 40. It offers many of the features found in larger models, but in a compact and budget-friendly package, making it a great choice for smaller charter groups or families. The layout is smartly designed, with a spacious cockpit and saloon that provide plenty of socializing space, while the large windows in the saloon offer excellent natural light and a panoramic view.
Like its larger counterparts, the Isla 40 features an open-plan living area that makes it feel larger than its 40-foot size suggests. It comes in both three and four-cabin configurations, with the owner’s version dedicating an entire hull to the owner's suite for added comfort and privacy. Performance-wise, the Isla 40 is easy to handle, with simple sail controls that make it ideal for smaller or less experienced crews. While it's not a performance-focused catamaran, it offers solid cruising speeds and good stability in moderate conditions, making it a reliable and comfortable choice for leisurely charters.
