Matt's Take
About the Lagoon 43
The Lagoon 43 slots into Lagoon's line as the replacement for the long-running 42, and it carries the same brief: maximize liveaboard space and charter-friendly comfort over outright sailing performance. Expect the familiar Lagoon formula — a raised helm station with good sightlines, a cavernous flybridge-style lounge/sun deck above the cockpit, a huge aft cockpit built for socializing, and a forward cockpit that opens into the saloon for cross-ventilation. Four-cabin charter layouts are typical, each with its own head, so groups and families get real privacy rather than hot-bunking through a shared saloon.
Sailing character is what you'd expect from a cruising cat this size: stable and reassuring rather than sporty, with twin engines that make docking in tight marina berths far less stressful than on a monohull. It won't point as high or accelerate like a performance cat, and the extra beam and windage mean it wants a bit more room to maneuver. Who it suits: charter groups, multi-family bookings, and anyone prioritizing deck space, shade, and cabin privacy over outright sail-trim thrills — less of a fit for sailors chasing a lively helm.
