The 42's helm station is slightly elevated, giving better visibility without the full flybridge found on the Lagoon 46. While it doesn’t offer the same spacious flybridge or the extra social spaces of the 46, the 42 still provides a balance between livability and ease of handling for smaller crews.

In comparison to the Lagoon 40, the 42 offers more space and an improved sailing experience with better upwind performance, especially when fitted with a square-top mainsail. However, it’s still heavier and slower compared to performance-oriented models. The Lagoon 46, on the other hand, delivers more generous living spaces, especially on the flybridge and in the cockpit, making it more appealing for larger crews but with a higher price point.
