Day 1 of 5 · Marsh Harbour → Green Turtle
Through the Whale to the Quiet Half
Embarkation runs the Abacos' usual painless script — sub-hour flight from Florida, minutes to the marina, swimming by early afternoon — and then the boat does the one thing most charter traffic doesn't: it keeps going north. The Whale Cay passage jogs briefly outside the barrier where the inside channel shoals; in settled weather it's twenty minutes of Atlantic, and the captain has already read the forecast before your flight landed.
North of the Whale, the chain changes register immediately — fewer masts, emptier water, and Green Turtle Cay ahead. The evening belongs to New Plymouth: clapboard lanes, the Loyalist sculpture garden, and a first-night Goombay Smash at the bar that claims the drink's invention. Dinner ashore or aboard; the anchorage does quiet properly either way.
