Amura is a 2011 sailing catamaran primarily catering to day charters out of Nassau, making it a convenient option for cruise ship passengers and resort guests looking for a quick escape on the water. While the boat offers a comfortable sailing experience, it does show its age and isn’t the top choice for multi-night charters in the Exumas.
Captain Max and Chef Rebecca are a friendly and experienced duo, ensuring a fun, relaxed atmosphere onboard. Rebecca’s cocktail skills and global culinary influences add a nice touch to the experience. For those seeking a short sail and a taste of island life, Amura provides a casual, easygoing day charter option in Nassau.

Captain Max is a passionate sailor with years of experience navigating the Caribbean waters. Starting with his own boat, he’s created unforgettable memories and has built a deep connection with the sea. Now, Captain Max is sharing his love for sailing with Amura’s guests, offering them a unique and personalized experience on the water.
Mae began her journey with Amura as a third crew member, working alongside Rebecca and Max. Through dedication and passion, she quickly worked her way up to become an incredible chef. Originally from Cuba, Mae brings a warm presence and strong work ethic to every charter. Known for her hard work and attentive service, she ensures glasses are never empty and guests always feel cared for. Her culinary creations are as delicious as they are beautifully presented, making every meal an experience to remember.
Dan grew up in New Zealand with the ocean as his backyard and went on to sail his own boat across the Pacific. Those years shaped his relaxed confidence on the water and his natural way of reading the sea. Sailing has always been about freedom, connection, and good company for Dan and that’s exactly what he brings to Amura. Guests are invited to slow down, settle in, and experience life on the water through the eyes of someone who truly lives it.
Kate has spent years chasing the ocean, sailing across the Pacific and feeling most at home on the water. With experience living and working on boats, she knows that the best moments at sea aren’t rushed, they’re shared. From lazy swims and sunset sails to good music and easy laughter, Kate brings a warm, fun-loving energy to life onboard Amura. Her goal is simple: make sure every guest feels relaxed, looked after, and has an unforgettable time on the ocean.
In 2026, Amura’s crew will rotate every two months to bring the best experience on board.
You’ll sail with either:
⚓ Captain Max, our beloved original captain, alongside Mae, now our full-time chef, and Celia, our wonderful hostess
⚓ Captain Dan and his wife Kate, our first mate from New Zealand, joined by Chef Mae
No matter the crew, one thing is guaranteed:
