Toddlers & Young Kids (2–6)

The BVI's compact geography keeps sailing time short, so you spend more time playing and less time underway.

A fantastic family option — especially St. John, where two-thirds of the island is national park. Trunk Bay's underwater snorkel trail is a hit with kids, and the calm bays along the north shore are ideal for swimming. The USVI is also the easiest destination logistically — direct flights from most US cities, no passport needed for US citizens, and you're right next door to the BVI if you want to cross over.

The Exumas are magical — swimming pigs, feeding iguanas on Allen's Cay, snorkeling a sunken plane at Norman's Cay, and sandbars so pristine they don't look real. Kids absolutely love it. That said, we typically recommend the BVI or USVI for first-time family charters. The crossing from Nassau to the Exumas can be uncomfortable in rough weather, especially with younger children. If the Exumas call to you, chartering with a start from Staniel Cay eliminates that crossing entirely.

Family Charter Pricing
Family crewed charters in the Caribbean typically start at $25,000 per week for a group of 4–6 on a catamaran with full crew — and most Caribbean charters are all-inclusive, so meals, drinks, and fuel are built into that rate. In the Mediterranean, base rates may be slightly lower, but you'll have an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) on top — typically 25–35% of the charter fee — to cover food, beverages, and fuel. Larger yachts accommodating 8–10 guests or multi-generational groups are available at higher rates.
